Microsoft To Launch New Android-Based Nokia Handset Next Week

Microsoft has plans to launch a new device next week, which is widely expected to be the new Nokia X2 handset.

Microsoft has pledged to support existing Android-based Nokia handsets, but it looks as if a new model could be on the way too. A countdown was posted on the Nokia Conversations Blog today, which hints at a new device launch for the 24th June.

The blog post is titled “Green With Envy” and says that “Summer brings out our inner glow… stay tuned to Conversations to find out what we’ve got in store.” Nokia had previously used green ducks in its marketing campaign before it launched the original Nokia X, which hints at a new Nokia X handset

Rumours have been circulating that a

 Nokia X2 could feature a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch display with a 480×800 resolution, 1GB of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. 

And there’s also a possibility that it could be dual-sim. Obviously, Nokia is yet to confirm anything before Tuesday’s launch.

Nokia’s previous semi-budget Android phones, the Nokia X and Nokia XL were met with mixed reviews, with many praising the price-point but criticising the below average specifications.

Earlier this week Nokia also released its Android launcher, called the “Z launcher”, that modifies your homescreen and offers quicker access to frequently used apps.
